Location
Eberswalde is the district town of Barnim. It is located in the northeastern part of Brandenburg and about 20 kilometers away from the river called "Oder". To Berlin's city center it takes about 50 kilometers. The spa town Bad Freienwalde with its green character and beautiful forests and meadows is about 17 kilometers away. Within 30 minutes by regional or national train the central station of Berlin, from where you can easily and quickly reach all shopping centers, attractions and Berlin's scene districts, is reached.

Eberswalde is surrounded by forests and known as "The city of woodland". It is located north of Barnim's nature park and south of the biosphere reserve "Schorfheide-Chorin". Since the 14th century, the municipality consists of 1468 hectare of woodland. About 1000 hectare are provided for recovery for inhabitants of Eberswalde. 271 hectare are safed as wildlife and nature reserve and approx. 1080 hectare are served as commercial forest.
The canal "Finowkanal" crosses the city center and the northern border of Eberswalde adjoins the canal "Oder-Havel-Kanal".
Not only Eberwalde's nature, but the large offer of educational establishments like primary schools and colleges attracts families with children and young people to Eberswalde. Leisure activities in sports associations and recreational facilities are in the immediate vicinity.
