The B273 federal highway, which begins in Potsdam and ends northwest of Bernau on the A11, is also in the immediate vicinity. Oranienburg is also known as the "City by the Water" as it is located directly on the lake called "Lehnitzsee" and the river "Havel". Many forests, meadows and landscapes, as well as having Berlin in the immediate vicinity, make Oranienburg a sighed-for place of residence. It offers many leisure opportunities: An own adventure outdoor pool for what Berlin citizens even come around, a city library, a climbing park, a pony courtyard, the popular shopping center called "Havelpark" and so much more. Even the oldest baroque castle in Brandenburg, which attracts tourists from all over the world, is located in Oranienburg.
